Don’t Miss This Film!! It airs on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 10 PM Eastern Standard Time.  Check your local PBS listings for exact show times.

Up Heartbreak Hill is an important film is about two Native American teens with some big choices to make. After graduating high school, will they have to leave their family and impoverished community on the Navajo Reservation for a chance to follow their dreams? Will they have to leave behind their spiritual attachment to the land and the traditional Navajo way of life? Or will they find a way to live with tradition and thrive in the modern world? And will they make the modern world their home after college or return home to help their people?

The difficult emotional decisions faced by Thomas and Tamara are faced by many Native American students in the delicate balance between family and survival, tradition and modern life.  We hope you’ll watch and learn more.

** Credits: Up Heartbreak Hill is a one-year documentary and feature film by Erica Scharf.
